Ex Boarders Sharing Circle

Ex Boarders Sharing Circle A space for those navigating the impact of boarding school, for healing, connection, and being seen & heard

Last weekend we screened the documentary Boarding on Insanity at Sambogaya, and it was a massive success.

At the end of the event, we moved into Q&A, reflections, and people sharing their own experiences. It was really profound to hear other people's stories. There was so much relating and recognition between people. The energy felt really potent.

I then started feeling a deep calling to share, although I felt so much resistance. So much in me was saying don't do it, stay small… people aren't going to like what you have to say, people don't like you.

But there was something in me that felt it really needed to be shared. It felt important, like it had value to the space, and so I trusted that.

After what felt like an eternity of anxiety, I finally built the courage to speak. I shared about how, deep down, we all just want to be accepted for who we truly are, all parts of us. I also shared how, whenever I've spoken vulnerably about really deep things, I seem to receive so much love and acceptance, which is so contrary to the belief I carry that I'll be rejected, disowned, or ostracised, a belief that boarding school can instil.

It begins to change and reprogram my relationship to speaking my truth in the face of authenticity, bringing me out of separation and into a sense of connection and belonging, inspiring others to do the same.

I really felt the resonance in the room, people meeting my eyes, properly listening, not just with their minds but with something deeper. It felt like a quiet sense of, is it safe to come out? The shares that followed were so meaningful.

From the discussion, it became clear there was a lot of interest in potentially starting a sharing circle in Glastonbury for those who attended boarding school.

So I wanted to open that out here as well.

Is that something you'd be interested in?
