What Really Dies?

Originally shared on Facebook · 28th December 2022

Ego death. What really dies? Nothing. Certainly not the ego. That old chestnut is with you for life. Love it or hate it. Your call.

What really dies when we say 'ego-death' is one's attachment to it. We cast the utmost importance onto it, and we suffer when things start going 'wrong'. It can feel so threatening to this tiny part of us which starts screaming sirens in one's inner spaciousness. It clouds the mix. One cannot see clearly.

Sometimes holding on can cause more suffering than letting go. So in those moments where it's too much to hold on to and it is breaking us, we then let go. This is an act of faith. We're surrendering into the infinite unknown. Yet nothing really dies, because it never really lived in the first place. It was merely a story we falsely subscribed to. It was delusion.

Its death is the birthing of a beautiful butterfly beyond its wildest dreams. It is the opening of the cage of the imprisoned mind and the starving soul. It is the rising of the phoenix from the ashes of its past.

Old programs imported in to your inner systems are malfunctioning. They are redundant. Clear them out. Make space. Breath in the fresh air. Breath is life. Let the light of your soul nurture your thirsts with the holiest of waters. You're alive. You are held.

Let go of hope. Hope is a false prophet. Allow yourself to fall. Trust in the dive. You will be caught by faith. Release your tight and weary grip. Allow yourself the ease of rest. It is slowly but surely wearing you out. Come back to peace. Die before you die. Enough is enough of needless suffering. Walk in the world but not of it. This life is an empty canvas. Set yourself free, so that you can really start living the life you've always dreamed of.
